Peg Perego Book Pop-Up Review
Peg Perego Book Pop-Up
After a lot of consideration and many trips made to multiple stores comparing strollers, we went with the Peg Perego Book Pop-Up stroller.
Folds easily:
The Book Pop-Up gets its name because it folds up “like a book”. I should tell you that I struggled to fold up many strollers we tested in the store. The sales people got a good laugh at my attempts. The Book Pop-Up was by far the easiest one for me. I am able to close it with one hand but opening does require two hands for me. With practice opening with one hand will be possible as i’ve seen others do it. The Book Pop-Up stroller can be closed with the seat forward facing, rearward facing, and with bassinet attached. When closed the stroller can stand on its own and it can be wheeled around like luggage.
To close: When the seat is front facing fold the back of the seat all the way forward onto itself, if the seat is rear facing recline the seat all the way. Put handle bar in the lowest position. Apply parking brake. Apply front wheel locks. Pull on the lever at the rear of the stroller under the seat, the handle bar will collapse forward over the seat and canopy.
To open: Just release the safety lock on the left side of stroller and pull the handle bar back into position.
The stroller weighs 23.7 pounds, light enough to be lifted in and out of a car relatively easy.
Reversible seat:
The seat in the stroller is reversible, and has a weight capacity of 50 pounds. The seat is easily removed by pushing two levers on either side. You can then spin it around and just click it into place. It features a reclining seat and adjustable foot rest to keep your baby comfortable. The visor has a zippered in extension that covers the entire seat when fully opened and UV protection, both features protecting your baby from those harmful rays. When the visor is fully extended there is a velcro part that you can open up and exposes mesh allowing for air flow. The seat can be in either direction when stroller is being folded. It’s equipped with a padded bumper bar that swings open with just a push of a button. Although I have not road tested with a baby yet the material on the seat seems to be very durable and seems like it will wipe off easily.
Sleep approved bassinet:
This stroller comes with a sleep approved bassinet. This transforms the stroller into a pram with no adapters needed. This bassinet got me very excited, although many brands offer a bassinet few are sleep approved. This means you could save some money and use this as your full time bassinet. Stands for this can be purchased separately and would likely be a good idea if this is going to be your full time bassinet. It collapses down for easy transport, and weighs only 9.04lb making this great for any overnight trips. The bottom of the bassinet is not flat so can be manually rocked back and forth. You are also able to incline the head rest of the bassinet, there are three different levels. The canopy on the bassinet can be unzipped to expose mesh allowing for more air flow on warm days. The bassinet also comes with a removable cover, great for keeping the little one warm on chilly days. The stroller can be folded up with bassinet attached as long as you collapse the bassinet first. Collapsing the bassinet it easy, there are two latches on the bottom at either end that you pinch and push inward. To reopen the bassinet you just open the canopy and pull upward.
Removable seat, car seat attachable
The seat in this stroller can be completely removed and car seat attached. This makes it so compact and light to push around. Peg Perego car seats easily click in and out of the stroller frame without any additional adapters. We went with the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4.35 which is sold separately. Being able to just have the car seat in the stroller frame was a must for me. I found the strollers where the seat stayed in place and the car seat sits on top very bulky.
Front wheel lock:
This stroller has front wheel locks, which is good for rougher terrain. This lock is applied easily with the dial switch on the right side of the stroller. We had found a lot of strollers that offered front wheel locks were not easily applied and often required you to walk around to the front of the stroller. This stroller makes applying the front wheel locks a breeze.
Parking brake:
The brake on the stroller in located at your feet near each rear wheel. It is easily applied by using your foot to flip it up on one or the other. Release the brake by pushing it back down. This brake is easy to use but since you use your foot is not sandal friendly.
Wheels:
The wheels on this stroller are solid polyurethane, so you will never have to worry about them being punctured. The front wheels are able to move 360 degrees, unless the front wheel locks are applied of course. Ball bearings and suspension in the wheels make for a smooth ride. The stroller maneuvers easily with one hand.
Large basket:
The large basket in the bottom of the stroller is a great size. Which can be accessed from all sides of the stroller. Even when the seat is reclined the basket is still easily accessible. The back of the large basket can be pushed down to allow easier access to load larger items.
Adjustable handle bar:
The handle bar is adjustable by pushing a button on either side of the bar. Great if you have people of different heights using the stroller. Also Diaper bag/purse hooks are found on the handle.
Specifications:
Stroller unfolded: 36.5” x 23.16” x 41.58”

Bassinet unfolded: 32.5” x 16.42” x 26.3”

There are only two things I would change about this stroller. One is I would put a peek window in the visor on the stroller. I also wouldn’t mind Changing the foot parking brake for a hand brake on the handle bar, in order to save my feet in the warmer months would be a welcome improvement. These are pretty minor things. As a result, with all things considered, this stroller offered all the features that were important to us. If you are in the market for a frame stroller with style and ease of use the Peg-Perego Book Pop-Up is worth a look.
