Stretch Marks VS Creams And Oils
Best Stretch Mark Cream Or Oil For Pregnancy
BIO-OIL VS. PALMER’S COCOA BUTTER OIL AND TUMMY BUTTER vs. Stretch marks
Everyone knows that a woman’s body changes during pregnancy. You have to be blind not to see the beach ball sized belly on a woman. On lookers see pregnant women as goddesses, radiating in there gestational glow. What is more beautiful than bringing a new life into the world? The correct answer is nothing! While that may be true, most women that have been pregnant would secretly admit, that they have worried about what pregnancy will leave behind long after the baby has vacated. You know what I am talking about right? These badges of honor, battle scars, yes I am referring to the stretch marks. They come in all shapes and sizes and if you are prone to getting them it doesn’t take much weight gain for them to show up.
You will find pregnant women everywhere slathering themselves in all kinds of lotions and potions that promise to prevent stretch marks. Now let me be clear here. I am a firm believer that stretch marks are genetic. With that being said I am still purchasing oils and creams with the hope that they will at least minimize stretch marks. That’s if I am in fact genetically doomed. Worst case scenario all it will do is reduce dryness and itchiness for me. Anyway here we go i’ll start with:
Bio-Oil
Bio-Oil was my go to Before I got pregnant I used it on my face and got great results. So naturally I thought, why not use it when I’m pregnant, since I had a huge stash of it anyway. At ten weeks the slathering began. Yep I applied that stuff everywhere. On my tummy, breast, thighs and butt twice a day.
Bio-Oil is more of what I call a light or thin oil. Goes on easily and absorbs fairly quickly. It has never left greasy stains on any of my clothing. I can not begin to tell you how well this keeps your my skin moisturized.
Bio-Oil is certainly not the cheapest out there but its not over the top expensive. A little of this product goes a long way.
PALMER’S Products
23 weeks pregnant and my belly was rapidly expanding. I decided around this time to introduce more moisturizer. So I purchased the inexpensive Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Oil and Palmer’s Tummy Butter.
PALMER’S COCOA BUTTER OIL
I started with the oil of course because that’s what I was comfortable using at the time. The Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Oil felt greasy and took a while to absorb. It did feel good going on and did keep me well moisturized. I’m telling you its no fun standing around in the winter waiting for this stuff to do its thing. Another issue I had with the this oil is the spray bottle. It was almost impossible to get it on just your body it went everywhere, the counter, wall, floor, mirror, my husband you name it.
PALMER’S TUMMY BUTTER
The Palmer’s Tummy Butter is hard and almost waxy in the container, however it softens in your hands very quickly to make for easy application. It is a very heavy moisturizer that takes a while to absorb.
Both of these Palmer’s products felt good going on. Overall they seemed like a good product for me to use, that is until I began getting a very itchy belly and broke out in small red bumps. It took me several days to realize that I must be reacting to either one or both of the Palmer’s products. I discontinued using both the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Oil and Tummy Butter immediately. In know way am I saying these Palmer’s products are bad. A lot of people use and love them with no issue. For the price it is definitely worth a shot, however I will be sticking with Bio-Oil.
